The assignment of the diploma thesis was preceded by the course NGA056 Specialized studio on the topic Architectural study of the cycling stadium of the Favorit Brno sports organization. The result of this pre-diploma project was the evaluation of the current condition of the velodrome and the creation of an option for its possible modification or demolition. The diploma thesis is a continuation of the previous project and in the form of a study it elaborates a proposal for a new building of the cycling stadium of the Favorit Brno sports organization. The newly designed velodrome responds to the current requirements of track cycling, such as the length of the track (250 m), the track material, the roofing of the building, and it also takes care to meet all the needs of athletes and visitors. The building is situated on the site of the original velodrome in Brno-Pisárky.

The aim of the diploma thesis is the architectural design of the stadium for track cycling. It deals with a covered hall, which is located in the area of Komárov on the territory of the sports resort Hněvkovského. The urban design ofthe territory is elaborated simultaneously with the study of the hall. The resort offers a wide range of sport fields for recreational as well as top athletes, and the new velodrome hall should dominate the entire area. The buildingprovides background for the important cycling club TJ Favorit Brno. It also responds to the current requirements of track cycling and thus enables the organization of international races.

The thesis was preceded by a specialized atelierwork "architectural study of BMX track of the Favorit Brno. Further elaboration of the architectural and urban study of the sports complex in Komárov with the presumption of the dominant of the cycling hall. Evaluation of existing buildings and newly designed sports facilities. The diploma thesis deals with the development of a new concept of the area, where it will have its place for both professional and recreational sports. The aim of the proposal is to create a significant area both professional and recreational sport. The main part of the work is devoted to the design of o new cycling stadium owned but TJ Favoritisms Brno. The hall should have sufficient capacity and facilities to hold international sporting events in cycling. At the same time it should be useful for smaller races and other events. Another requirement is that the stadium can provide enough facilities for the TJ Favorit Brno cycling club. The home base is currently a cycling stadium at the Brno Exhibition Grounds. This stadium is currently inadequate, serving only as a training course. It does not meet conditions of the international Federation od UCI. The design of the variable space of the hall deserves a further attention at least, because it will serve athletics of other sporting events. The cycling stadium is located in the northern part of the grounds. It place emphasis on the scattered surfaces in the immediate vicinity of the stadium, easy orientation and layout of entries from all sides of the object, separation of athletes from spectators. The main expressive element is two masses, one of which allows the public to climb the ramp along the perimeter of the stadium to lookout points. From the ramp you can see the action inside the stadium. The attractiveness of the entire area is enhanced by the proposed traffic playground and bombrack. The total area will be separated from traffic. 3 new car parks will be built in the area.

The diploma thesis was preceded with the specification of specialised atelier TG02 of which the purpose was to prepare an urbanistic study of sport area Hněvkovského territory that is found in the municipal district Brno - Komárov. The urbanistic design was aimed to create an important territory for sport professional as well as relax activities. The specification included also the design of current BMX area and creation of background for sportsmen as well as visitors. The diploma thesis that deals with the building of cycling stadium in form of a study links to this theme. The stadium is situated in the North-East part of the areas, near Hněvkovského road. The design regards sufficient scattering surfaces around the building, simple orientation in the building´s surroundings as well as in the building itself is emphasised. Its glass façade is an important expression element of the building as well as the video mapping systems proposed for projection and lighting of this façade. The attractiveness of the whole area is underlined with parking areas, refreshment point of current cycling track and new area of sport activities (dirt park, ball games).

Architectural study of the cycling studium/ runway / Favorit Brno / on the open space in. The aim of the proposal is to create a significant area of both professional and recreational sport. The main part of the work is devoted to the design of a new cycling stadium owned by TJ Favorit Brno. The hall should have sufficient capacity and facilities to hold international sporting events in cycling and athletics. At the same time it should be useful for smaller races and other events. Another requirement is that the stadium can provide enough facilities for the TJ Favorit Brno cycling club. The home base is currently a cycling stadium at the Brno Exhibition Grounds. This stadium is currently inadequate, serving only as a training course. It does not meet the conditions of the International Federation of UCI. The design of the variable space of the hall deserves a further attention at least, beacuse it will serve athletics or other sporting events. The cycling stadium is located in the northern part of the grounds. It places emphasis on the scattered surfaces in the immediate vicinity of the stadium, easy orientation and layout of entries from all sides of the object, separation of athletes from spectators. The main expression element of the exterior is a glazed facade wall, with a perforated sheet metal. Providing night lighting and putting visitors into action. The attractiveness of the whole area is enhanced by the newly designed park. A café and relaxation areas are also proposed. The total area will be separated from traffic. Two parking spaces with sufficient capacity for the whole area will be created at its edge. Transport within the premises will only be accessible for service and operation.

A specialized project of „Architectural study of modification of the bicycle stadium Favorit Brno in the BVV area and urban design of the Hněvkovský sports complex in Komárov“ preceded the diploma thesis. The aim of the project was preparation of the area for cycling stadium with all the necessary facilities and functional connections. The diploma thesis develops a previous project and elaborates the compound of the cycling stadium in a form of a study. The building should recpect to the current demands of this sport, such as a closed roof of the building, siberian pine track material and a 250-meter track length. The building will be situated in the area adjacent to the current biker complex in Brno Komárov.

Architectural study of the sports area of the Favorit Brno cycling stadium

The aim of the bachelor's thesis was the design of the reconstruction of the Favorit Brno cycling stadium, the so-called velodrome, located in Brno - the centre of Pisárky, southeast of the Brno Exhibition Centre at Křižíkovsého Street. The velodrome does not meet the current requirements of track cycling. A new 250m long wooden cycle track will be built into the existing stadium. The space that will be created after the shortening of the track will serve as a multifunctional area on which a mobile BMX track can be built. This is connected to the passageway 'coming out' of the building and going back inside. The facilities for the BMX track is under the velodrome stands in the southern part. The design also includes an annexe which will serve as a track cycling facility and administrative space. The proposal also includes a completly roofed building, as currently the roof structure only covers the grandstands. The new roofing builds on the existing roof as the roof structure has historical value.
